Welcome Early Childhood Inclusive!

Hello! my name is Ms. Makala. I have been with Omaha Public Schools at Belle Ryan Elementary since 2016. I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Early Childhood inclusive. I am currently working on my Masters in Literacy at Concordia University and will be finished at the end of October. I truly love coming to the classroom each day, and I constantly strive to provide meaningful experiences and developmentally appropriate education to all the students I work with.

This year will look a little different to start the year but we will make the best of it! I will be providing daily links with suggested activities and prerecorded instruction to do at home through SeeSaw Family. 

Although this year may look a little different, students will continue to learn and grow.

Teaching Strategies GOLD is the Omaha Public School's Early Childhood Department's curriculum and assessment tool.  The GOLD curriculum revolves around several "studies" with topics such as Trees, Buildings, Balls, and Cars.  While exploring each Study with the children, we are observing and recording their performance level on the Objectives for Development and Learning established by TSGOLD.  These objectives are developmentally appropriate skills and knowledge that grow with the children.  We record our observations of the children working and playing and use this data to place each child on a level for each objective. Parents are welcome to see reports on their child's levels anytime.  These levels clearly show where a child is developing well, and where he or she needs scaffolding or help.  I hope that visitors to the classroom will be able to see what we are studying when they walk through the door, since our books, art, shared writing and other activities are planned to advance my students' understanding of our topic.
